Through hardship to the stars

Rendered in striking grayscale, this retro recruitment poster celebrates the Star Trek universe with bold propaganda-style energy. The Latin motto "Ad Astra Per Aspera" — through hardship to the stars — arches across the top, perfectly framing a stylized female Starfleet officer who gazes out with cool, authoritative confidence. Her long dark hair and sleek uniform are rendered in deep blacks and cool grays, while two iconic starships streak dramatically behind her through a fractured, geometric star field. The composition draws from mid-century propaganda poster aesthetics, giving the whole piece a timeless, cinematic gravitas. Designer logick2 has achieved impressive tonal range across the grayscale spectrum, from near-black in the figure's silhouette to bright whites in the bold lettering and ship hulls, with smooth mid-tone transitions throughout the background geometry. The layered depth effect is particularly evident in the starships, where subtle relief creates a genuine sense of three-dimensional thrust and motion. The flat matte finish enhances the vintage poster quality. Displayed upright on a desk or mounted on a wall in a media room or home office, this piece would read beautifully as a statement of both fandom and craftsmanship.
